The mobility was planned to be physical but unfortunately because of the negative developments of the pandemic in Trikala, the Italian team decided to participate to the mobility virtually.
So, five teachers from each of the two partner countries-Romania and Turkey- involved in the project travelled to Trikala and five teachers of third partner, ITIS GIOVANNI XXIII-Rome, participated virtually. In addition many students and teachers as well as the principal of the host school, 2nd Gymnasium of Trikala, participated in the activities that were carried out during the mobility.
All partners attended workshops and activities at the host school specifically prepared for the mobility where they shared information about their schools and worked in mixed groups do research for the main topic of the mobility. They worked on:
Monday 22nd of November: Welcome ceremony, some ice-breaking activities, and the presentation of the actions of the 2nd High School of Trikala for the integration of refugees and immigrants the past five years. Mrs Fotini Kouvata spoke about her experience as a teacher of the immigrants and refugees students’ class(ΖΕΠ), at the host school(2nd Gymnasium of Trikala) the past four years. The participants met the Mayor of Trikala at the Town Hall and they were informed about integration policy of refuges in Trikala. Cultural Visits to the local castle, Varousi(the old part of the city)and Manavika.
Tuesday 23rd of November: Presentation by a sociologist of the organization of the Municipality of Trikala e-trikala about the programme “ESTIA” for refugees. Presentation of the educational programme in the primary and secondary schools of the refugees in Greece by the person in charge in the area of Trikala. Cultural Visits to Research Centre – Tsitsanis Museum, Osman Shah’s Mosque and to Kliafa History and Culture Center.
Wednesday24th of November: A 3 hours theatrical awareness workshop about refugee integration techniques, from the group “Theater in Education” with actresses Antonella Hira and Cristina Krithari. Comments on the project-schedule about the next meeting. Discussion about the current state of immigrant integration in each school and sharing views about inclusion policies.
Thursday 25th of November: Cultural visit to Meteora Monasteries (UNESCO Heritage Monument), Digital Projection Center of Meteora’s History and Culture, educational museum of schools in Kalampaka city and Matsopoulos Mill, a historical-industrial monument in Trikala.
